The collection
The museum has quite a large collection, focusing on the East Surrey area. Only a small part can be shown at any one time, bona fide students and researchers may have access to material in storage by arrangement. The collection has been aquired mostly by donations, and is therefore stronger in some areas than others.
The main subjects covered are:
Geology
Rocks and fossils.
Archeology

Stone age tools display
From the Stone Ages to post war East Surrey, every era is represented.
Social history
There are memorabilia of the more recent past with the emphasis on clothes, tools and domestic items, and memories of a more rural East Surrey.
Natural History

Local dinosaur fossils
The museum no longer collects Natural History but has some local material.
Archival material
There is a useful collection of maps, pictures, photographs, postcards, and documents, together with a small library. There are several collections related to local personalities, schools, clubs and community groups.
