Visitor information

The East Surrey Museum welcomes a wide range of users. Some visit the museum, some use our other services.

It is the local history museum for the whole Tandridge District Council area; the curator and volunteers look forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones.

Opening hours

  • 10am-5pm Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays
  • Admission is free but donations are welcomed.

    There is a shop/bookstall at the museum organised by the Friends of the Museum, all profits are used to support the museum. The shop is one of the few places where you can buy the Bourne Society's Village History publications

    Group visits

    Groups are welcome; the museum is pleased to offer a service for a wide range of visitors. Visits can be arranged either during normal opening hours or at other times. Please contact the museum for further information or to make a booking. The average time for a visit is about one hour.

    Outreach visits and Talks

    Visits to schools and community groups, bringing suitable material from the museum, is an important part of the service. School visits can be linked to the National Curriculum. Please contact the museum for further information or to make a booking. The museum volunteers are pleased to provide speakers for suitable occarions, using the museum's collections as required.

    Disabled Access

    The museum welcomes all its visitors. People with mobility problems can be set down at the entrance. There is one small step to the path, after that there are ramps for all slopes. Unfortunately there is no wheelchair access to the toilet and no parking for the disabled at the museum. For further information please contact the museum.

    Loan Boxes

    Loan boxes are often available on request, epsecially for schools. There is one permanent "overview of the past" box; other boxes can be made up for many topics including the requirements of the national curriculum. There is no charge but donations are welcome.
