February 2012 Half Term Activities at East Surrey Museum for children with accompanying adults.

For this half-term we are doing: "Make and decorate a windmill" with a very short demonstration afterwards of how windpower is converted into electricity. All materials provided.
Times etc are: Wednesday February 15th and Thursday February 16th, 10.30am - 12.00 & 2.00pm - 3.30pm.
Booking recommended.

Christmas 2011 activities at the East Surrey Museum

21/22 December 2011 at 10.30am - 12.00 & 2.00 - 3.30pm on each day we will be running traditional activities "Make traditional Christmas paper chains and greetings cards."
These activities are for children with their accompanying adults.

Come and see the Christmas decorations and Victorian Christmas display too!

Please book a place by telephoning the Museum on 01883-340275. (Please note Museum is ionly open for calls on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.)

Hidden Stories of East Surrey Wednesday 31st August 7-9pm

Come along and find out more about what we have been up to in the last year of our Heritage Lottery Funded Project. Wednesday 31st August 2011. 7-9pm. Come and share a glass of wine and view two new exhbiitions one concerning three local asylums Cane Hill, Netherne and St Lawrences and one about the History of Caterham Guards Barracks.

Free Summer Activities at East Surrey Museum

Thursday 21st July 11-12.30 or 1.30 to 3 Make a Mobile

Saturday 23rd July 1-3 Science Day Come along and make a bouncy ball and maybe extract some DNA!!!

Wednesday 27th July 11-12.30 or 1.30-3 Victorian Decoupage
Thursday 28th July 11-12.30 or 1.30-3 Make a Suncatcher
August
Saturday 6th August 10.30-12.30 or 2-4 Karl Lee the Flintknapper comes to ESM (discover the art of prehistoric tool making)

Wednesday 10th August 1-3 How to make a Stone Age Pot

Thursday 11th August 11-12.30 or 1.30-3 Treasure Trail Come along and make a treasure box and then search for gold.

Wednesday 17th August 1-3 How to make a Stone Age pot
Thursday 18th August 11-12.30 or 1.30-3 Victorian Decoupage
Saturday 20th August 1-3 Science Day

Summer Holiday Activities


THE EAST SURREY MUSEUM

Summer Holiday Activities 2010

Wednesday 28th and Thursday 29th July - Medieval tiles
Hands-on fun learning about and creating your own clay medieval style floor tile based on our collection. (age 4 upwards)

Saturday 7th August - Flintknapping
Come along any time between 10am-4pm to see Flintknapping demonstrations. Karl Lee will be demonstrating how stone age man made flint tools, using traditional techniques.

Wednesday 18th and Thursday 19th August – Build a radio
Discover how early radio worked and have a go at building and listening to a crystal radio set. (age 8 upwards)

All activities are free of charge and work on a drop-in basis between 10am-4pm.
